About Me
I have worked in the third sector for over a decade. After being a Service User myself from aged 16-25. During this period I went through a range of personal difficulties. Including Nine years of homelessness, fourteen years of active Alcoholism and a life engulfed with physical mental and emotional abuse.
After I got sober in 2011 after my ninth detox. I decided I wanted to give back to the local community that I took from for so long.
The first qualification I gained was mentoring, then a diploma in health and social care. Whilst embarking on my counselling qualifications.
Before I finished my counselling qualifications I was approached by Wirral Met and offered a lecturing position. I lectured in level 2 Counselling Skills and Level 2 Understanding Substance Misuse. I also went into HMP Altcourse on a voluntary capacity delivering recovery groups for inmates for seven years
I have worked with a wide cross section of clients. However I have always been passionate towards Men's mental health specifically and the lack of support for men. Alongside the stigmas attached and the social norms that need to constantly be challenged and eradicated.
I'm not your stereotypical counsellor. I'm a Birkenhead Lad, so I'm not airy-fairy, sunshine and rainbows. My passions other than work are bodybuilding, powerlifting, fishing and my dogs. However I strive for authenticity, humility and integrity.
